marlow used to have my favorite breakfast, a spectacular biscuit served up with butter and jam...big, flaky, crumbly, moist, delicious. however, the pastry chef who made those biscuits left, and this biscuit was not THAT biscuit.

greenpoint's own peter pan bakery where i have just been introduced to their red velvet donut, their red velvet donut WITH COCONUT!? and their whole wheat donut which sounds like some kind of delusional health-nut abomination, but in fact is possibly their most delicious invention of all (and not healthy at all)!

it's been a few weeks, but time for some fresh coffee shop sketching. midway through this drawing a guy on the street had a seizure. fortunately, the paramedics arrived, took care of him, and apart from looking a bit dazed he seemed okay. this little story in no way has anything to do with this drawing.

i am excited to once again be blog-hanging out with my friend grace over at design*sponge (previously ao's and my apartment had the honor of appearing as a d*s sneak peek). this week however, i am guest sketchblogging. the pieces are a collection of coffeeshop drawings from around the neighborhood, so lots of muffins and coffee from some of my favorite hangouts. eat and drink up.

food eateries open and close all over the place, and i greatly enjoy checking out their drawing potential. a new player is urban rustic where i met up with friend/cartoonist/illustrator gb. the people running the place were nice, the coffee was tasty, the food was okay (but i am optimistic that it will improve or that i will try better things). from a drawing sense, they do have lovely wooden shelving lined lined with do-gooder groceries, but the angles to draw are not terrific as the seating is all the way in the back of long space.
